SERIES II - BIOMORPHICS
Hand-carved by master artisan Antonio Rillosi of Edition Nove in Northern Italy, Hansen’s monumental ”Biomorphic Vessels” draw inspiration from a second-century Roman sculpture of the human body the artist had come across in the Greek and Roman galleries at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2007. This triptych is part of a series of functional sculptures and lights that touch upon the question of captivity and freedom, evoking abstract silhouettes of human bodies revealed and freed from the stone block by the stone carver.
